Hudson Community Choruses

Company Overview

The Hudson Community Choruses are dedicated to excellence in singing through sharing, preserving, and advancing the art of choral music in Northeast Ohio. Comprised of an Adult Chorus, a Youth Chorus for grades 6-12, and a Children's Chorus for grades 3-5, the Choruses perform two major concerts every year and participate in many community events throughout the year. Chorus Members from all over Northeast Ohio come together to sing a wide range of choral repertoire. Among the highlights of recent years are the Northeast Ohio premiere of Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo, and music of Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, and Elaine Hackenberg.

Company History

The Hudson Community Chorus was formed in 1988 by Caroline (Corky) Buhler, a long-time Hudson resident and Frank Longstreth, a faculty member at Western Reserve Academy to promote choral singing in the area. From its inception, the chorus has hired artistic directors to ensure a high standard of performance. Seed money was provided by area benefactors.

The Hudson Community Youth Chorus was started in September 2014 as a treble chorus for youth in 6th through 12th grade, and the Hudson Community Children's Chorus, which features 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, was formed in September 2015.
