Founded in 2001 by Joseph P. Fitzmartin and Steven M. Fisher, Commonwealth Youthchoirs (CY) is a non-profit organization that now administers SIX award-winning choral education programs for young people: Pennsylvania Girlchoir, Keystone State Boychoir, Find Your Instrument! — an outreach program in underserved schools — Good Mornin’ Music! — an early music education experience for children in Pre-K through grade two, and in their inaugural season, Garden State Girlchoir and New Jersey Boychoir!

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Steven M. Fisher and Managing Director Martha Platt, CY is committed to fostering a profound love of singing in a nurturing, diverse community of young people by providing outstanding choral music education and performance opportunities.

Nearly 700 children between the ages of 4 and 18 are served by CY, representing all five counties in the greater Philadelphia region and South Jersey. our singers are proud to serve as musical ambassadors for Pennsylvania and New Jersey, both at home and around the world.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

Commonwealth Youthchoirs (CY) serves over 650 singers in six award-winning programs: Keystone State Boychoir, Pennsylvania Girlchoir, Garden State Girlchoir, New Jersey Boychoir, Find Your Instrument! and Good Mornin’ Music!. Its mission is to transform young lives through the power of making music together - one song at a time. CY choristers have performed for popes, presidents and peace prize winners, and they are the only singers to have performed on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
